I just lost my beloved Old Man, at not-quite-19. I was very much afraid that I wouldn't know when it was time to let him go, but when the time came he made it clear to me. (Of course, I'm still second-guessing myself... That's because I'm crazy, though, so don't worry about that.)

As for the tummy troubles, my cat was doing that, too, for years. We need to replace all our carpeting, and one of our bathroom floors because of it. The best fix for kitties with tender tummies depends on what's causing it -- some eat too fast, and then it comes back up, so slowing them down helps. I did this for my cat by putting large -- VERY large -- acrylic marbles into his dry catfood dish. He had to slow down to eat around them, and that stopped it. He also got sick when he got constipated, which required getting him past the constipation -- through medication and enemas. You'd have to weigh whether that was worth it to you. Some cats get sensitive to their food, and throw it up, in which case, there are sensitive stomach foods. Then there's just plain anxiety, which can cause some cats to be sick, and you just have to try to minimize activity near feeding stations/feeding times.

I really hope that helps, and if it almsot does, feel free to babblemail me for more info. Anything else I can think to say just gets into the "too much really gross information" range for this board, IMO...
