I also read a lot to "escape" during my childhood. When I want to "jump off the merry-go-round" for a while, I read some of my son's books... Of course, he's not reading the Secret Garden, but the simplicity of that genre settles me into the safe feeling I had when I sat in a corner and read my books- quietly so as to not attract any attention. I still have a ripped up version of The Little Princess and read it every so often...
