I have had two or more major depressions in my life, separated by as long as 15 years of normalcy (or nearly that). This latest seems to be taking a long time to fade away, as some physical discomfort still lingers. I am taking a low dose antidepressant, and doing pretty well, as I'm able to work and all that.

I'd be interested in knowing the experience of others. So much you hear these days would lead you to believe we should all be on medicine for everything--from social anxiety to heartburn--for the rest of our lives. How many people get depressed, then get well and off of medicine for the long haul?
