but i got that Trump was being sarcastic when he was responding to what the science people were telling him.
he started out repeating back what he heard them say.
then he ad libbed a few more ideas along similar lines in a way that increasingly extended what they were saying to culminate in an obvious absurdity.
which is unlike him. i thought. mostly he was about making other people look good. i don't watch much of what he says, but i was a little surprised at him...
