I don't know.
I don't feel that I understand.
I suppose I do understand that people obtain some sense of release from publically airing past victimisations that happened to them. That it helps lift shame for it to be placed 'out there' somehow and helps them believe and really feel that what happened to them was not their fault and they were not responsible for it.
On the other hand, I think there is something unhealthy about things like... Special Victims Unit. The whole show is a... Trauma bonding sort of a unhealthy reliving... A glorification of victim status. It sort of tries to make victim status out to be desirable. It looks to me like a... Selling of the idea of victim status. People want to jump in with a *me too*.
And the trouble with that... Is that then abusers and sadists can say 'the people seem to like it'.
So... I suppose I think there are appropriate places and less appropriate places. Like how AA or NA can be helpful for people, sometimes. Go and air stuff. Then you don't leak that stuff outside the meeting. I thought that was the idea. Group therapy or whatever where you can air the stuff you need to air and profit from it... But a setting where the abusers don't get to say that the people seem to enjoy the trauma-bonding thing that appears to be going on.
I don't know that this makes sense to you...
I am trying to understand what you find... Good... About it. But I don't really see.
I don't mean this to be dismissive. I guess I mean it as an invitation to explain more. Because I don't understand.
