I try to keep my education broadened by exposing myself to a variety of "news" sources. But so much of it - on ALL sides - really reads like pure fiction.
At the same time, the political climate where I live makes it a challenge to hold on to my own rather liberal-leaning beliefs. Well, I can hold on to them easily enough, but I'm not always comfortable expressing them.
This election cycle, though, I made the choice of wearing t-shirts in some places, and my buttons, sometimes, usually when I feel relatively safe doing so. Grocery shopping has been a good choice for me, as it's spurred on some spontaneous conversations that wouldn't have happened otherwise. I have caught a couple of angry glares and a few obnoxious comments, but so far no one has kicked me.
