For a little while people would only get charged if they had larger amounts, but THAT didn't last for long.

I live in Ontario & it can be used for medical purposes IF you have a medical certificate or something. I'm pretty sure that's how it is now.

As to medical coverage:
Medical doctors & psychiatrists are covered by government medical (that we don't need to pay for).
Prescriptions are not paid for unless you're on welfare, disability, possibly seniors (but probably only if there's a very low income)

Psychologists & social workers aren't covered under the government medical. Actually, it varies from province to province to some extend. In BC they cover some alternative health care I believe, whereas in Ontario they don't
