Because we are all taught that some things, even if true, are best not said.

No, you shouldn't lie and say someone suffers in the heat because they are skinny. But wouldn't it also be rude (even if true) to say you suffer because you are fat? Or can't get dates because you're ugly? Or smell?

I don't necessarily think that public figures should be immune from criticism, but I think we can word the criticisms so that they don't reflect as criticism on the person supporting them.
