whaling in the south pacific

Posted by alexandra_k on January 18, 2006, at 1:40:01

it is presently illegal to commercially hunt whales in the south pacific. japanese continue to hunt whales allegedly for 'scientific research' and the 'leftovers' are then sold commercially.

this is the nz governments stance on the claim to 'scientific research'

they are hunting them in an area that is a designated whale sanctuary. they have no territorial claim on the waters

greenpeace (volountary organisation is doing its best...)

the NZ government isn't sending a ship :-(
