And of course I'd like discussion here to be diplomatic/civil.
You're right, a particular type of post may (at a particular time) be a trait of a particular poster. In that case, as long as the discussion is civil, I still think the benefit to the community of an open discussion of how to deal with that type of post, by that poster and also by others in the future, may outweigh the potential discomfort of that poster.
