Why do some people still get Please be Civil after apologizing and some don't?
Is this fair? in light of the length of accelerating blocks-not PBCing some one or blocking someone can result in one person being blocked for a year while another has committed the same number of errors and has never been blocked. (Lou for example vs some people who have a number of PBCs but have never been blocked or even PBCed while being sarcastic, etc.)
Mercy is great but it needs to fall as the gentle rain from heaven ya know-on everybody equally. The length and manner of doubling lead to tremendous inequities growing from rather minor ones at the beginning.
It also may lead people (say men or citizens of storm ravaged cities) feel their hurts are not as worthy of being addressed as anothers. It might also give the appearance of favoritism and I know you wouldn't want that. Please consider this carefully. Thanks
