I am unabashed about this point...
Lengthy blocks are punishment...
Punishment is for children...
Adults work much better if they are given the ability to amend their performances and go onward...
The 'muddy water' comes into play when society is reluctant to identify (e.g.) a 40 year old as not having feelings/behaviors/motives of an adult, ergo they have migrated into the body of an adult while still performing like a child...
When society 'steps up to the plate' and responsibly considers that childhood motives/behaviors/feelings in adulthood will no longer be tolerated, then true adults can stop being punished and be given the chance to amend their bad performances..... and continue their adulthood with dignity, along with acceptance from society....
Dr-Bob has an opportunity to be a pioneer by allowing us to amend our posting mistakes and stop his punishing us like we are his children!
