Sorry fb, I'm only now reading this - did you eventually see your doc? I know how debilitating back pain is - my aunt had it and it was the worst. All she could do was lie down.

As far as amitrip, I've seen it work wonders for neuropathic pain. What back condition do you have - is it something with nerves like spondylosis? The only thing is, for me at least, it seems to interact very badly with any type of benzo or painkiller at high doses. I can't take amitriptyline + Xanax together - it completely zombifies me. I take it at night and it gets me to sleep without fail but taking it together with anything, really, increases the sedative effect tremendously. But I know for pain the dose is very small, like a fraction of the theraputic dose for depression. My aunt is very sensitive to meds and she takes only 5mg at night and it seems to have done wonders for her spondylosis. So I would say give it a shot for the nerve pain. It can start working very quickly for pain - by a week you should be seeing some benefit.

Hit me back and tell me what's up, I do care.
