Lamictal cognitive impairment

Posted by Quintal on July 9, 2008, at 14:57:54

This side effect is starting to bother me quite a lot. It seems to be getting worse the longer I take it, not bettter. I'm having that strange 'dyslexia' side effect where letters seem to rearrange themselves on the page, I say and think things back-to-front and inside-out, have word-finding difficulties and my spelling is atrocious. Yesterday I nearly had to stop the car and rest for a bit while I sorted my head out. I felt as though I couldn't concentrate properly on driving, couldn't tell where I was in space, like I was floating out of my body a little. It was very unnerving. My memory is also deteriorating.

I'm taking 100mg in the morning. I've tried splitting the dose 50mg on a morning and 50mg at night, but I find whenever I take Lamictal at night I don't sleep properly. I'm starting to want to be off this drug. Maybe I can lower the dose to 50mg? I think the side effects were better at that range. I can't think of any mood stabilizers that are likely to be much better, which is why I'm inclined to stick to it for the near future. Maybe I should try adding a smart-drug antidote?
