Yes, I understand. I'm in the same boat. I'm in the Chicago area and although there is a Dr. Best here that does it, I haven't found anyone with experience with him. I heard from someone that he used it for something other than depression (don't remember what), and added it as a depression treatment. I'm hesitant about going to Dr Hutto and getting it only because if I need maintenance treatments on a frequent basis, I wouldn't be able to do it.

I'm kinda curious about your going to psychotherapy also. I've always thought, and been told by doctors, that my depression was clinical and that psychotherapy wouldn't really help me. My depression gets very severe (highly suicidal - probably like anyone seeking this treatment) but at one point I took Remeron and within about a couple days I felt good. Unfortunately, it stopped working after about a month. This happened on a few different times and now it won't even work for the month anymore. Anyway, the quick change when it did work convinced me of how clinical my depression is and that psychotherapy wouldn't help. I do understand that many people think that psychotherapy along with meds, etc, is very helpful - I'm just not a talker and don't know what I would talk about. I really don't have 'issues' other than depression.

Anyway, I'm really glad that TMS is helping you. Hopefully one day soon the FDA will get off their butt and approve this so there will be more doctors offering it. Then more people can try it and get insurance to pay for it like it should be.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

> I have to fly quite a long way, and can't go as often as I'd like, both because of the expense (being non-FDA-approved, no insurance will pay for it) and because I can't take more time off from work. Overall, since I have been taking the TMS and having psychotherapy, when the depression does recur, usually after 3-4 months, it is in the mild to moderate range, rather than being severe as it was prior to starting the TMS (and the therapy). If and when it becomes generally available, it would be ideal, for me, to have it about four times a year.
