You will see a doctor, he will give you a reference to see a psychiatrist or might send you to see one right away.
You want to avoid the whole "manic" routine. If you go in of your own will, you will be voluntary patient which means you will have a much better say in what happens to you afterwards and will be able to get out whenever you want.
You definately do not want to get shot with something like Haldol ... better do everything calmly and besides, that way you can make sure the doctor understans how you really feel. The better he understands whats going on with you, the more he will be able to help.
I know its scary but in then end you will probably be glad you did it.
