In reply to Medication Regiment-Anyone Similar?, posted by geno on August 19, 2004, at 15:33:30
hello geno, chemist here...i can comment on a few things, and suggest you post your query on the Alternatives board, that way you can have your supplements looked at by people who, well, tend to know a lot about that stuff, by my estimation...your 16 mg/day dose of suboxone is the recommended target dose, and is going to be on the sedating side. conversely, the adderall is on board to do numerous things - i.e., not just to keep your opiod receptors happy - and in the absence of any other interactions going on with your supplements, i would think that a higher dose of adderall is warranted. your concern for dose escalation is a sign that, as i mentioned in a previous post, you are not seeking the drug to get high. as is disclosed in the prescribing information, raising the pH of your stomach ``juices'' will lead to a decrease in absorption and a lengthening of effect, but this is not going to solve your problems: in short time, your body will adjust, and you will be purchasing antacids in addition to everything else, and the net effect will be that i will be penning a very similar reply to a very similar post from you in the near future. so: i suggest you examine your supplements with your doctor as well as with the gang on the Alternatives board - Larry Hoover is one person whose encyclopaedic knowledge about all of this stuff might be a good person to pinpoint in your subject line, in my opinion - and look into a ``holiday'' from adderall or, as you proposed, upping your coffee/tea intake for a short while. i have found that in my own case (meds are luvox, xanax, and dexedrine) that i can reduce the amount of dexedrine almost every day by having a cup or two of coffee. of course, this is just me, and we are all different, so your experience might not be the same, but i do encourage you to keep the adderall levels constant and strive to reduce them, as like dexedrine, it is not something to play around with. i wish you well, please keep us informed, and all the best, chemist
