It sure can. I was told that my derealization could be a problem with sub-seizure like activity in the temporal lobes. I was prescribed tegrotol which sure made me feel real, but it made me very very depressed. It is kind of like my imagination keeps me happy, but when I am exposed to the reality of the situation I become dull and apathetic. Just my take.
