> Hi, I have battled depression and anxiey half my life, and this is the first time in a long time I have felt as bad as I do now. I take effexor xr and zanax. Something changed in my life recently and I dont know how to deal, I have lost 10 lbs in 3 days and am barley functioning. any advice on how to come out of this

Increase the Effexor dosage? When I had a "breakthrough" depression on Prozac after many years of remission, I panicked and went from 20mg a day to 80mg a day. But I averaged out at 60, then went down to 40, where i stay now. maybe try adding some regular effexor to your effexor XR, and adjust your dose of xanax so that it ameliorates your anxiety sufficiently. As time passes, and you "deal" with the situation, I think you'll find you can lower the doses back to what they were.

Good luck and let us know. On top of the sheer hell that depression ALWAYS is, having a depression after a long time of being well can seem especially horrid because it's so "new" and you often feel as if it would never happen to you again... bear that in mind, and remember that you've GOTTEN THROUGH IT BEFORE, and you will again. But my advice is to be very aggressive with your meds.
