I think you have to find out which pdocs or docs are willing to prescribe a benzo. My pdoc prescribes xanax with no hesitation cause he listens to me, and I know what helps me. Other pdocs were not prone to prescribe benzos; some do and some don't. Find somebody who understands what benefits you and who you have some confidence in. I believe all docs are different; I don't think age matters. It's just the doctor and his/her experience and beliefs. I take xanax [generic] at night for sleeping. It helps me and it's very inexpensive and I never overuse it, so my pdoc has no problem prescribing. Ask you pdoc to prescribe a good amount of Klonopin before you totally leave him, and then you'll have the Klonopin until you find another pdoc to go to.
