I took Desyrel (Trazodone) for several years and found that the drowsiness WAS dose dependent. Of course everyone is unique in their responses. I've read several sources that claim that Desyrel (Trazodone) is not an effective AD and is best used as a sleep aid. For me, it was a life saver and I only needed 50mg a night to be effective. The intense drowsiness and morning hang-over should wear off after the first few weeks.
