Hi Racer,
I'm sorry you aren't feeling well.
FWIW, I had to have my gallbladder removed a couple of years ago. I had been complaining of severe pain attacks just below the ribcage, and vomiting. My GP put me on Nexium thinking I had acid reflux and said that it should work, but if not to let him know after a couple of weeks.
It didn't work, so he reluctantly ordered an endoscopy. That showed nothing, so the gastroenterologist sent me for an ultrasound, which showed a boatload of gallstones. I then got sent to a surgeon and had the thing out. All of this took about three months of waiting for things to work and waiting to get into doctor's offices and waiting for test results to come back.
I don't know what you doctor is doing with the x vs. the y treatments... Anyway, I guess I'm trying to say that if it's gallbladder, an ultrasound should tell you. If its esophageal or stomach-related, endoscopy should tell you.
Good luck.
