Hi,
I've been on Cymbalta for about 8 days. I decided to take the 30mg once every other day because I'm starting to get a little hypomanic. So I didn't take it today and I notice that I'm feeling very agitated. Can this be a withdrawal symptom? Could I be experiencing withdrawal after only a week?
Someone please reply, this is a very uncomfortable feeling.

> dmWhat you are experiencing is almost certainly the depression itself. Often, irritability is a sign of improvement when one's depression is just beginning to lift. You are caught in-between depression and remission. If you were to discontinue the drug entirely, the depression would probably take on its more familiar vegetative quality.
I know how important it is to avoid becoming manic when no treatment is immediately available to prevent it. Again, though, I think you are much better taking a reduced dosage every day than pulsing the drug and risking non-response or an acute manic reaction.

Thats interesting. I ended up taking the Cymbalta yesterday because I just couldn't stand that feeling. I think you're right. Now I'm sure the ever-other-day thing isn't going to work. I'll hold it here at 30mg unless the hypomania gets worse. I see my new pdoc in exactly one week. I'll ask him then if he could prescribe a lower dose if necessary.
Thanks for writing to me.
