I'm sorry you're grieving, jylisnotlaughing. It seems that many here are, at this moment. Maybe things will look better in a while, even though the things you're grieving about may still be there.

Zenhussy's right-- even if it's only about something seemingly small, we can help one another feel so much better, and so much more hopeful.

I bought a Christmas tree, or Hannukah Bush, this evening. I 've never done that before, even though I've thought about it.

It's a really beautiful bushy tree, very flourishing and handsome and there's a whiff of the woods in my living room, every now and then. I'm just having fun tonight, looking at it every so often, and being caught off-guard that it's here.

I'm also trying to imagine just how to decorate it. Kind of mystifying but really enjoyable.

Thanks to the people on chat this evening, I have an amazing fir tree in the corner near the window, looking for all the world as if it had been there forever.

It's kind of a small thing-- but it was a really great adventure to find one that was exactly what I wanted, to carry it home, and install it where it now sits.

Thanks so much, everyone! Zen, Jammer, Maddie, Ll, To P, and so many other people. Even if it's only a small thing, I;ve gotten so much pleasure from this.

Honore

you are so welcome,
Isn't it amazing how an impulsive decision to buy a tree can change the way you think about your place?

I was waiting for some folks at a restaurant recently, and found myself staring at a large, natural christmas tree, and just staring at it, almost meditating on it... it really is soothing somehow.

I hope your tree surprises you when you get up in the morning.

I hope your tree amuses you as you figure out ways to decorate it, or not.

I hope your tree brings you meditative peace when you contemplate its branches and its form.

I hope your tree brings you to the deep woods when you get up in the morning and sniff the balsam for the first time.

I hope your tree brings out the caring spirit in you as you sweep up little worn-out needles and water it.

I hope your tree makes your heart and home warmer.

love,
-Ll

p.s. my "tree" is on the windowsill with my rose bush, my geraniums and my basils. PLEASE don't let me water it by accident. I might electrocute myself.

Yeah! I'm glad you bought some greenery. I plugged my tree in the first thing when I got up this morning and the lights are going like mad.

It really does help.

I can't explain it, but I was so happy that you did this for yourself, that it brought tears to my eyes.

I'd first like to give a shout out to all the ren & stimpy fans out there and apologize for the blatant copyright infringement.

But...

I bought a wreath for my door and a big spotlight to light it up.

Clearly, I am out of control - and I love it!

>>>> Zenhussy's right-- even if it's only about something seemingly small, we can help one another feel so much better, and so much more hopeful.

that paragraph starts out great!! (zenhussy's right!! like the way that sounds ;) )

seemingly small things can make the difference when we least know it. what may be of little effort to us or of little thought might be the one positive thing in someone's day

>>>> I bought a Christmas tree, or Hannukah Bush, this evening. I 've never done that before, even though I've thought about it.

qwitchyer thinkin' and take action! oh wait....you already did! well done Honore!! huge huge smile

>>>>It's a really beautiful bushy tree, very flourishing and handsome and there's a whiff of the woods in my living room, every now and then. I'm just having fun tonight, looking at it every so often, and being caught off-guard that it's here.

what a lovely description to share with us all. isn't is surprising to have a freshly cut tree in the home? very different but also can be very heartwarming and soul touching.....kinda like your post!

>>>> I'm also trying to imagine just how to decorate it. Kind of mystifying but really enjoyable.

new horizons to explore.......decorate any way you want knowing you can always change it, undo it, or even plan on expanding on it next year! such a great attitude you have about this honore = )

>>>>Thanks to the people on chat this evening, I have an amazing fir tree in the corner near the window, looking for all the world as if it had been there forever.

anytime us chatters can peer pressure someone into chasing down a dream we're happy to oblige

>>>> It's kind of a small thing-- but it was a really great adventure to find one that was exactly what I wanted, to carry it home, and install it where it now sits.

that you did this for YOURSELF is wonderful to read. very very proud of your going out, finding EXACTLY the one you wanted and all the rest. YOU did it sweetie! awesome.

got over the grinchiness and bought a small table top tree. it was one of two left at the particular speciality grocery store at that time of night...kismit.

for the whopping price of $16.23 tx incl. plus one pack of batteries (maybe grand total of $22) there is now a lovely live tree with two strands of multi-coloured battery operated lights strung throughout sitting atop the bookshelf in the front window.

next to the menorah of course.

as for ornaments? haven't run across that particular box yet in unpacking. happy enough the tree came with lights as part of price so the only additional expense was batteries for the light strands.

it is very cheery and pleasant to have seasonal live greenery indoors.....knowing it will transplant outdoors quite well as landscaping shrubbery come spring helps with live tree guilt.

treejoy for those who are open to it. this little tree has definitely changed the atmosphere dramatically for the better w/o taking up hardly any space.

now that's bang for the buck! or as some now say....treejoy!

wanna hear some tree madness? my husband brought it home last night (hey! no naysayers, ok? who wants a tree sitting in your living room for over a month anyway?) and it was EXACTLY what i would have picked out. (it actually worries him that he's so good at picking these kind of things out for me)

he brought home probably the most beautiful tree i've ever seen in real life (of course, i've seen prettier ones on tv, but not in my house). it's gorgeous, with just some red bows, some bows with red, silver and white, and some white lights. the girls have their own special tree (with all the tacky decorations of course :) so, kk gets her beautiful, simple tree and the kids have their own. and i jsut can't believe how much a tree livens the place up. the duckie loves looking at the lights and i have to agree with him.

hope your holidays are full of drunken madness (without a hangover) and lots of love. (oh, and we're having chinese food! no cooking in this house (except maybe some cookies for 'santa')
