Hey Cora,
Actually, I don't know crap about astrology. I'm not a Sag though, I'm Capricious.

the goat. Baaaaaaabaaabaaa Baaaa! Bleet.

The guy sounds kind of strange. Even if he were another sign, I'd kind of be wary of a guy that kept on calling and calling... hmm?

I have consulted with a buddhist geomancer twice, once to schedule my wedding, and once for fun at a bar. The wedding thing was really interesting. The geomancer used my birthdate and my husband's birthdate and said that we were very compatible (of course he HAD to say that!) and that we knew each other as dear friends and lovers 3 lives ago. He said that husband's fire would temper my coolness and that my unpredictablity would be supported by husband's practicality. All of this was very good. My wedding was scheduled at 5:22 pm on 12.15.2543 so, that was a good time for us. the next best time was a 7:13 in the morning. um. no thankyou!

The other geomancer had adopted Western tarot cards, and I kept on getting symbols that would point to a path of happiness after a death. Something about a strong woman in my future.

I didn't really understand either reading, because I don't speak that language very well. The geomancers tend to use a lot of sanskrit words that I'm not familiar with. I suppose it lends them an air of authenticity?

My husband believed it all, though. He said that the wedding reading was very very thorough, and that it was almost all correct, even details. Most importantly, my mother-in-law (who is VERY superstitious) believed it, and was very happy that her son was marrying someone like me.

how do I find out if my planets are on fire?
I have heartburn occasionally. Does that count?

Yep, I'm sorry, UR a Cap. A very very good sun sign. I'm certainly no astrologist, but I have a book and have had quite a few readings.

You need to have a natal chart done. You must have your place of birth and exact time. Then, an astrologist can do a natal chart and tell you what signs all of the planets are in. (I don't know what's up w/ these 'new planets' we are finding.) There are three fire signs, Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Your sun is in the earth sign Capricorn. I only have one planet in earth, so that's why I'm a bit 'off the wall' at times. Five of my planets are in fire. I need grounding. Married a Virgo but he got physical.

So the buddhist geomancer (I know nothing about this belief.) thought his practicality could help your 'unpredictability'? Hmmm, U don't strike me as unpredictable. I mean that in a good way. Maybe he sees your dreams and plans and goals R in your head and in order, but others cannot see them.(?)

love, cf

cf,

No, you didunt! You didn't run away because he was a gemini, did you?

Cause of all the things you said about this guy, the fact that he was a gemini was the most benign.

What is a goat? by the way? Aries? I'm an astrologically-free zone, by the way.

My sign is the word that dare not speak its name (or I'll have its head).

yes, especially with the tourists. Heavy accent very effective. Schedule wedding at 7:13 am-- very effective. Tourist think you deep. Pay twice as much.

Well, that speaks well for your husband, I think. Not terribly practical sounding, though.

> cf,

> No, you didunt! You didn't run away because he was a gemini, did you?>

No, but he definitely has those two powerful personalities and one is so wonderful ... and the other is so not.

> Cause of all the things you said about this guy, the fact that he was a gemini was the most benign.>

Yep, UR right.

>What is a goat? by the way?>

Well Capricorn shouldn't be insulted at being a goat. The goat is wise and doesn't need to display or show it to the world. He is secure in himself and doesn't need others' approval, but does like company, company he choses.

>Aries? I'm an astrologically-free zone, by the way.>

Aries is a ram. Aries is the infant of the zodiac; naive, will run to front lines, take risks, never give up, horns to protect himself.

You've heard the saying, 'The lamb shall lie down w/ the lion'. Well, a ram is a male sheep, once a lamb. I like to think that there is 'peace' when the lamb lies down w/ the lion, the symbol for a Leo.

>My sign is the word that dare not speak its name (or I'll have its head).>

Okay, guessing, Scorpio? If right, I'd best not mess w/ you much or you might bite my head off. Second guess, Cancer? But, that's a hard one 2 figure. Crabs are secretive, not in an evil way, just they 'plan' or 'think' all the time to themselves, not speaking all they're thinking to others.

I don't really know all that much about astrology. There is a lot that's over my head. I've only read one book and just had a few readings.

Now I wanna' know Jost! I'm puzzled. Need more coffee.

Corafree- I have a question for you- my friend was born Oct 22, and she says that she's both a Libra and a Scorpio. Is this true? Is she even more confused than the rest of us?

p.s. I like goats. They have wool and milk and are persistent lawnmowers who can eat scrap metal and seem satisfied. They are small, but sturdy. cute to look at, but not very cuddling. The beards are kind of interesting. one wonders what the goat's wisdom entails... bleeeet baahhh!

p.p.s. My geomancer reading (for my wedding) was not for me as a tourist. It was in the native language, and I was only an observer. My relatives (Asian) arranged it as part of the traditional ceremonies preceding our wedding.

Okay, this is layman interpretation and also wording from "LOVE SIGNS (Linda Goodman's)".

If born on October 22, she's a Libra Sun sign. The Sun sign establishes ones character, or who you really are.

With knowledge of 'EXACT TIME and EXACT LOCATION (longitude and latitude)' of birth, even on 'a cusp day', which in this case would be October 23, the first day of Scorpio and the last day of Libra, a person only has one Sun sign.

If your friend feels she has the personality of a Scorpio, it is probably because her Moon, or her Ascendant (Rising sign), was in Scorpio at her birth.

The Rising sign establishes ones personality.

U were born March 30? You're an Aries sun sign. We both are!

Did someone tell U, you were born on a cusp????

Had you been born on March 20th, when Pisces ends and Aries begins, dependent on the time of the day and the exact location of your birth, the sun was in one or the other the signs, ... sun can't be in two places at once.

You may still be struggling with deep-rooted issues that affect your self-worth. You may even recall long forgotten failures, physical pains or emotional hurts. But now that you are older you can see these old experiences in a new light. You have an opportunity to grow wiser now, but first you must revisit your past in order to free yourself from it.

An astrologist should do a natal chart for you (know city, county, country too) and you'll learn whether your sun sign is Pisces or Aries, both very nice signs, IMO.

So have you ever seen "The Importance of Being Earnest"? It's pretty funny. Seems that two young marriageable Victorian maidens cannot possibly marry *anyone* whose name is not "Earnest." It is such a charming charming name-- and any man who has that name must be a most charming and desirable young man.

Fortunately, their betrotheds are both named Earnest.....Or ARE they???????

Because these fine young men both say their names are Earnest-- and yet,--it turns out that they are either both betrothed to the same man....OR????????....... Still, one of these maidens surely preceded the other in the honor of being Betrothed to Mr. Earnest Worthing,--yet despite consulting their calendars and daybooks, they cannot for the life of them determine who......

Whatever shall they do????

Honestly I can't remember what he said about fox hunting, but it wasn't civil.

Which conversations I've had with real people and which conversations only took place in my head. I wish I could blame alcohol abuse, or something like that. Hi Jost,
I'm sorry you're having such a hard time right now. Please try to remember that you have so many excellent qualities, and so many unique corners of your mind. I know that it's hard to hear people say nice stuff about you whenever you are feeling really down on yourself, but I have a LOT of nice things that I can about you that are not merely nice, but they are actually honest and real.

For you to place all of your eggs in one basket (employment and occupation) and neglect to appreciate the entire Jost- well- I think it's a tragedy. Ultimately, I think you realize that you're not feeling well, but you also need to realize the extent to which the big D has poisoned your own mind against you. Jost, you DO have a sense of self-worth that remains untainted, but you are not allowed to express it freely. Please try to listen to all of your feelings, not just the really loud, really ugly ones. The little pip-squeek in the corner has something important to say too!

When people tell you that you are an important, valued part of their life-- don't dismiss it immediately. Try your hardest to integrate that message with the part of you that is resisting the big D. When I tell you that you are so very supportive of me in this time of anxiety about my future in psychopharmacology-- DON'T dismiss it! Maybe you tell yourself that "anyone" could have told Li about pharm. The truth is that "anyone" hasn't spoken to me as loudly and clearly as you have. The truth is that I've been doing a lot of research in the past few weeks, and it's all very confusing. To hear Jost's personal experiences-- untainted by conflict-of-interest or statistical significance or axes to grind... Well, it is incredibly valuable to me. I thank you VERY much.

So, if you haven't done anything else worth patting your back over in the last 24 hours, just know that you've opened my mind, and you've made my visit to pdoc and possibly my ongoing treatment a lot easier to tolerate.

your friend,
-Li

Li is gradually giving up on separating independent clauses with the standard punctuation. split infinitives, comma splicing and all that jazz. adds color, you know? I wonder if you are as harshly judgmental of my grammar as you are of your own. I KNOW how to use it, Jost, but I'm lazy. :)

Nope, haven't seen it, but now that you've shared what you have, and I was just waiting and hoping you would do so ;), I definitely would.

(Just awakened here in Dysfunction Junction and Jamaica Blue may not even 'help me'!)

So, .. maybe there is 'just one' Earnest?

I hadn't gotten far enough into googling Oscar Wilde yet.

But, I fear he had a great soul which suffered much too badly. (Isn't that the way it always goes?)

The first time anyone refers to a book, movie, or music without using this option, I post this to try to make sure he or she at least knows about it. It's just an option, though, and doesn't *have* to be used. If people *choose* not to use it, I'd be interested why not, but I'd like that redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration:
