great big ball o' lethargy

Posted by tabitha on July 15, 2002, at 4:03:01

My moods have been all over the map this week. 2 up days, 2 normal days, today a lethargic sad day drinking grape soda in the heat.

The normal days were great. Wouldn't life be good if I could have a whole bunch of those in a row? Sigh. I've been so unstable this summer. Mostly up thank goodness, but it's hard to function anyway with too much energy.

Had some actual socializing yesterday, with real live people, and I ended up feeling sad anyway even though it was a good time. My last single friend has gotten involved with a woman. Just a few months ago I counted 5 single friends, now they've all coupled up. 'Cept for me, the last spinster lady with her garden and her cat.

Glad all you cyber folks are out there though :-)

Now I'll go back and actually read your post.

Just excited to see someone else up.

Yes, I do know what you mean. It's hard waking up each morning and not knowing which emotional clothes to wear. My husband always says he likes summer best, because at least he always knows it will be hot. Now me, as much as I like security, I'd rather know it's possible today will be one of those glorious weather days. Or at least a nice normal day. I'm glad you had two of them this week.

I'm enjoying the up days I had on my way up the effexor hypomania ladder, and now on my way back down. But I agree, they do wreak havoc with your productivity. Nice thing is you just don't care until you've come down.

How old are you, if it's not way too presumptuous to ask (and no need to be specific). I remember that age where everyone seemed to be pairing off. Couldn't open the paper without seeing a wedding announcement. Now I read the obituaries instead. (I'm 40). But seeing the last other single friend succumb would be enough to cause a sad, reflective, lethargic day.

Here's hoping tomorrow will be a nice normal day.

I just turned 49 and those have all been single years. Some of my friends have been married 4 times. I look ten years younger than any of them. The more kids, the older they look.
My biggest nightmare is taking a wife and 3 young children anywhere. We pile in the bottom of the line mini-van and go to Chuck e Cheeses. I'd be self-medicating with heroin. I love kids...someone else's.
Don't let the pairing off get to you. If you were to stay single, in 5 years these people will be worshiping you for your freedom.

Yes! May the spinster women with cats unite! :) While I wouldn't wish my current chemical contruction on a significant other (or any other) at this point, I too find mass summer couplings to be an additional stress.

Alas, I am only tolerable through this medium. But thankfully, supported too. While actual live people do make the world go round, cyber folks here keep *me* from self destructing.

Wishing you a succession of normal days and grape soda galore.

Yeah, I'm a 33 (soon to be 34 in August) year old
spinster...complete with cat...(and rottweiler!).
My married friend came and visited me this weekend at
my bohemian apt, and started feeling a little jealous of
my single life...that all the stuff in my place is mine and
I don't have to share it with anyone, blah blah...I found
it quite amusing. Meanwhile, I had been having a cup of coffee
at the local natural food grocery and getting all horny and
jealous looking at all the couples imagining that they had
slept late...had some nice saturday morning sex...moseyed on over
to the store looking all bed headed and relaxed...
we talked about how the grass is always greener on the other
side.
You'll meet someone though...don't worry...someone who will adore
you and see what a cool chick you are. I always love your posts--they
are so human and always make me laugh.

I can identify. I have couch days. Even bed days.

And sometimes I just want to be the most special to someone.

Thanks fer all the werdz... (oops, still in misspelling mode from that whole mangoes thread)... I'm glad there are still a few of us cat lovin' spinsters and spinstuds left!

Dinah, since you asked so presumptuously, I'll reveal that I'm now -gasp!- 39. I've already survived the late 20's/early 30's when all the normal people couple up, so I thought I was secure with my middle-aged oddball single friends, those few trusty folks who'd usually be available on Saturday nite. But nooooo! They just had to go and start... mating!

Oh well, lose some, gain some. I didn't have a cat til recently either. She just lived in my yard for about a year til I started feeding her. I still don't actually know where she goes to the bathroom. I'm not 100% convinced she's real...

Phil, I thought you were married. Something about that monthly v***** quota you were griping about over on PB gave me that idea ;-)

Phil, I thought you were married. Something about that monthly Viagra quota you were griping about over on PB gave me that idea ;-)

I guess that did give the impression I'm having a lot of sex. Well, let's keep it that way, shall we? Ahem...
