I think its called 'the evil dead' any movie where the hero mounts a chainsaw onto one of there hands is a winner! also 'house' scared the hell out of me when I was about 9. umm... not quite the same but the b&w movie 'the cat and the canary' also kicks. bob hope is a damn funny man.
as 4 seriousness and b&w then american history X is amazing, it kinda fits as very few people have seen it (that I know)

Low budget, poor acting? Hmmm...not quite. (We can discuss the "poor acting" thing, but the budget was definitely not *low*) ;o)

Ok, I am going to make a great confession now < gulp >

It`s "Star Wars".

Whatever you do, do not watch a film called 'beat' with c. love and K. suvverland. Its about burrows+ginsburg but hardly tells a story. Not a heavy drug influence in there, really. A very bad film I watched last night. Tomb raider on the other hand, very good. but I am unbeleiveably biast. Lovely jolie, mmmmmmmm. She is great in 'girl, interupted', well deserved oscar. Watched 4 winona ryder (she is nice 2) but jolie totaly stole the show and is so so so nice 2 look at.

Uhm...what exactly does *yay* mean? ;o)
Not even my "american slang" dictionary can help with this. But maybe that`s because you are english?

Oh, interesting. Where do you get those information?

Anyway, may the porridge be with you.

Don`t worry, I might be mad in many ways ... but I am not *that* mad! Spaceship models...good god! ;o)
I am acutally translating "fan stories" from english to german. This might be a proof for my being nuts also, but at least it`s good practice and (hopefully) improves my english.

^^^^^^^^^^^^

Here's a few (not necessarily my favorites, but have been kicking around for a while):

"The Night of the Living Dead" (non-edited version too sickening to bear)
"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" (with a cameo role by Gary Condit)
"Texas Chain Saw Massacre"
"Hotel Hell"
"The Thing" (1950's version)
"Death in Small Doses"

... and I'm sure there are MANY others.

"Day of the Birds" I'm not sure if this is the name. A black & white film where birds go beserk.

"Monty Python - Holy Grail"

And I can't watch any of the "Living Dead" old or new versions. The ones where they just want to eat your brains. Any movies that are just monsters eating, ripping, and slicing people I can't watch. Funny thing though on the effexor my dreams are often like this.

Hehe.. that would be my answer to: "what`s the strangest thing you`ve ever seen?"

English not being the language of my family but my country has brought up some funny errors. My mother got a note from my brother's teacher to explain some vocabulary to him. They were discussing different religions at school and my brother had answered prostitute instead of protestant.

I really don't know if this could be called a "cult classic", but Mike MacDonald's "Hardcore Logo", a story about a punk band reunion tour of Western Canada, is an incredible film. Not being a fan ral fan of punk, surprizingly, the music is excellent (I've bought the soundtrack AND tribute album - Hey, songs like "Sonofabitch to the Core", "Ten Buck F***" and "Rock and Roll is Fat and Ugly" can't be all bad).

The film is done in mockumentary style (ala Spinal Tap), but way, way more realistic. The film has so many levels and nuances, it is incredible.

So, here's to Joe Dick, Billy Talent, Pipefitter, and John - P*** OFF!!!!

My favourite is the "Rocky horror picture film." I think that is the name of it, the one where the audience gets up and moves.

Hmmm... I never use the "Translate" option.
But as far as I know it`s based on "alta vista´s babelfish", which I once tried just for fun. The result was - how shall I put this - complete rubbish. :o)

Here`s an example. First the german text:

"Hallo, wie geht`s? Ich habe keine Ahnung, was ich schreiben soll, also wird das hier wahrscheinlich ziemlich zusammenhangloses Gebrabbel sein"

Which means:
"Hello, how are you? I have not the foggiest idea what to write, so I guess this is going to be just some incoherent babbling"

And this is, what Babelfish made of it:
"Hello, how geht`s? I do not have notion, which I am to write, therefore the here probably rather connectionless Gebrabbel will be"

See, what I mean? ;o)
It`s not really helpful, so I have to try and use my brain. (Ok, and sometimes a translation software, called "Babylon", which does a good job at translating single words, but is not able to translate whole sentences.)

Had it on for two days then the wind blew cooler weather. I knew that would happen, but if I hadn't bought it we would have had record highs till Christmas. Now all we need is plenty of rain? How has the weather been on your side of the world?
