Is this picture like a Rorschact (sp?) test or what?

I also think we are being tested. Maybe Dr. Bob is curious about participant's reaction to the moderator. His board, his experiments.
Or, it could just be dry humor. Interesting guy :-)

You mean Dr. Bob might be using us for money and fame? That is so ironic! Here WE are, huddled on the couch in the dark with a blanket and teddy bear, and all we really want is to be left alone by the outside world. Well, I MIGHT open the door for a giant check from Publishers' Clearing House, but that's IT.

The question that I always ask myself is why does Dr. Bob put so much of his free time (i.e. his life) into this board. The obvious answer(s) to that question is very intriguing to me. Makes him human just like the rest of us.

Well, I MIGHT open the door for a giant check from Publishers' Clearing House, but that's IT.NO! No! NO! I mean Dr. Bob is a very curious person by nature and he is driven to transform his curiosity into reality. In this case, I believe he was just curious as to what this controversial picture of his would evoke in his participants.
Out of kindness and appreciation to him for providing us with this means of communication, we should continue on with our discussion. I think Dr. Bob is a good person. But like all therapist, he is trained to be congruent/transparent. So, let humans be humans :-)

P.S. I made a promise to someone that I would not reply to this board till Thursday (Happy Thanksgiving!). Carry on...this thread is very interesting. Too bad we are not in a real therapy setting, else we just might get some responses from the object of our affection :-)

From the "disclaimer" at the top of this board: Submitting a message gives me permission to use it as I wish.
Dr. B has already told us pretty clearly that he can do what he will with our posts. It seems that the most logical use would be research (and a few archives back he did post hypotheses about psychology on the internet or something like that, and asked for feedback). I imagine if something is funny he'd get a chuckle out of it, but he doesn't intervene very much at all (he isn't directive, and doesn't post about what people should do unless it involves civility). He has posted useful information on topics that were being discussed.
So I have a hard time being too concerned about his motives, or if his new pic is a test, etc. I don't think he tests us or tries to trick us, or does experimental manipulation on the board. On the other hand, as jaded as I am, I am very gullible in some ways, so he could be doing all of the above and I'd never suspect it.
If he becomes the next Joyce Brothers based on PB and PSB, and enjoys some celebrity that's ok with me. But, I would be surprised if that was his goal. He obviously feels a certain responsibility to keep the board as "safe" as possible by asking people to be civil, and has shared pretty freely with us about his professional life (I'm thinking of the convention he went to where he got together with some PB folks). My perception is that he is above board (so to speak), and trustworthy. But, remember, me=gullible.

There is no Dr Bob. The letters of his name are rearranged to spell B borD. This is obviously a reference to the bulletin board as well as the perpetrator of this fraud. He B bord so he B amusing himself with this counterfit character. The odd angle of the photographs is obviously the result of the furtive angle of the photographer using hidden cameras. I suggest that the REAL Robert Hsuing is unaware of the board being run in his name. I wouldn't B surprised if the REAL Robert Hsuing was a supporter of free speech even to the point of "incivility". Thus this board is a cruel hoax and a mockery of his ideal of free interchange of ideas and is being perpetrated by his foes!!!!.

Hey, Rzip, I have held back from this discussion because I think you told us you were trying to curb how involved you got here, as part of your therapy to deal with preoccupations.
I am glad you are now pulling back again--it seems in the long run it is what is in your interest.

> It's ironic that this whole thread was started with Rzip being openly critical of Bob's picture.
There is no irony in this situation because Dr. Bob has a different status than the participants here.
The real reason I started the thread was because Dr. Bob went through a period of changing pictures on the board every day. At that time, a lot of participants focused into his pictures. There was one where the picture only consisted of his elbow and people made fun of him for that. So, this time when he changed his picture, I felt that I needed to at least keep with the tradition of commenting on the change in scenery.
On a more scientific note...
The reason why this is not an ironic situation is because of the question: On this board, is Dr. Bob an object or a person? A very complicated question psychologically.Just think, you are in your therapist's office and you are free-associating. Your habit is to fixate your eyes on a brown, three stage bookcase right across from where you sit of the sofa. You always fixate your eyes upon this object when you free-associate in every session. Then, one day you come in and the brown bookcase is gone or moved to a location in your periphery vision. You will notice this change in a very unsettling fashion. How you respond to it is another matter. Anyhow, the point is that Dr. Bob's picture on top of the page is that bookcase. The fact that I responded to the change is worthy of self-analysis. Golden opportunity to gauge my well being :o)

In Hannah's own words - Lighten Up.
I just thought I would make a comment on how everyone is acting. I probably did not do it in the best way, but I mean, really, this board seems to have been taken over by children under 5 years old! I decided I wasn't going to miss out on having fun and being immature.
People are just being pathetic on this board with their parody, sarcasm, misinterpretations, bitching about others, 'evilness', BobB, Oddzilla etc etc etc...
People will be people. But some people need to think, and act with the maturity that we can only hope is buried deep inside them. Things said here are not usually personal attacks.
Everyone is here because of a problem or illness. Rudeness, misinterpretation, and incivility are often a symptom of depression. When this occurs, we just have to ignore it, or call the person on it. Abuse is not the answer. Neither are 'please be civil' posts. I am happy that at least you have picked up on the childish nature of my post!
Everyone needs to look at their own behaviour, and see if it was any more mature than my post!
P.S. I have nothing against Hannah. She just seemed to be the main participant talking about lightening up and joking around, and there seemed to be some underlying dispute between Hannah and Shar.
