I hate to think how American politicians will react if the financial thing in Europe spreads to the US currency and the US is subject to the same constraints that the markets place on other countries.
None of us so far has been good handling Julian Assange and it is an absolute indication of the decline since 1945, with the possible exception of the McCarthyite era.
Who has called for his murder?
The assistant to the Canadian PM calls for his assassination
Mike Huckebee calls for the death penalty for him.
Sarah Palin calls for him to be tried as a terrorist.Who else?????
And why?
Because he has (so irritatingly) broken no laws.
He raised his hand against the Empire and embarrassed some people.
God help us when the sh*t really hits the fan.

> Who else?????
Liddy, some people on Fox, etc... I'm nervous about commenting on this for fear the Feds will come after me. I'm not kidding. Strange things have been happening since I posted about thermonuclear device and Assange in the same sentence in different forums. But anyway, not only has he received death threats, but JA has said that someone had called for the kidnapping of his son. Scary stuff...
Why aren't these people directing their anger and hate at the government for failing to protect classified information? Why the call for the demise of Assange, the publisher?

Lieberman?
I'm not so interested in the wretched Anglosphere.
It needs to grow up.
What about Shell controlling the government of Nigeria?
John Howard went there and was paid $60,000 to tell them they had a great future if they had good governance.
I'd like to see the Niger Delta.

Get Up, an Australian activist organisation placed an ad in the NYT and apparently it has already been tabled in Congress.
I can't find it though.
When I speak to Americans about these sort of things, I often end up feeling naive, because it is much much harder there.

>Why the call for the demise of Assange, the publisher?
That is the question of the moment.Apart from connecting it to moral and political decline, I'm not sure.
What will happen when the interesting things occur?
I was born to what was somewhat immodestly described in the US as the greatest generation.
They didn't behave like this.

In keeping with the recent spirit, let me try a rephrase.
It is extremely concerning when public figures call for the assassination of any citizen. We have suffered many years of dog whistle and wedge politics, but I never expected things to come to become so blatant.
I greatly fear for the future of our countries.
