Come on people- fluid explosives are nothing new. If this is such a grave concern, why are we only now taking steps to prevent it?
I was searched by hand 2 times before boarding my transatlantic flight on Friday am. I still found a tube of chapstick and a tube of toothpaste in my backpack when I was unpacking. AND I was dehydrated, because I couldn't bring my water bottle with me on the plane...
oh well.
At least I wasn't one of those who was waiting 24 + hours trying to get on a plane, having only been given a cot, a blankie, a pillow, a meal voucher, and having NO carry-ons with them whatsoever. I bet they felt really secure and safe.

I always hate it when a miniscule minority makes these things necessary for the majority. It's really not fair.

That's amazing! I would have thought the airlines would be extra careful to have extra beverages handy due to the circumstances, especially for long flights! Not good news to hear.

The flying itself dehydrates.. plus I have this problem with undetectable ADH..so i dehydrate anyway.. Plus on the way i decided taking some kava beforehand would be a gereat idea to help me sleep on gthe plane.. only it dehydrates one too.
what got me was i asked for a bottle of water but was tole that was only for first class!.. and yet I could get a whole can of softdrink or beer!!.. just NOT water.
I was thinking it would be just as bad now they have put these restictions on.
I think we should be able to take a bottle of water on the plane, provided we drink a cup of it as we enter! (just to prove its fine)I did request refills of the tiny cup.. I had about 5 of them at once.. but was still thirsty and they refused to serve me more. i asked could they just leave the whole bottle .. but NO...
It was the only thing I guess I thought was bad about the service and flight.. but still.. i really cant understand the attitude!!
wine, beer, softdrink ..is fine.. whats wrong with providing more water!:-)

Are we allowed to discuss on this forum which airlines are more "water friendly" and which are more "dehydrating"-so in case any of us fly- we'd be more informed?
