The biggest reason pot won't be prescribed any time soon -- besides the idiot in office here in the states -- is that it's smoked. Some of the other drugs, marinol, etc, which are based on pot are another story. They're probably great things. It's the smoking part.

Did you know that smoking pot is much worse for your lungs than smoking cigarettes? Find a way around that, and you'll have a drug to study. (My friend who died in May was drinking stewed pot to combat nausea and some autoimmune symptoms. That's probably an option.)

But I very much doubt that many doctors are happy with the thought of prescribing something which is smoked to their patients. Even those doctors who do prescribe it would probably be happier if they could prescribe the sublingual spray, or something like that.

Yes, you're right. There are two things though. The quantity of pot needed for medicinal purposes is much lower than that needed to become high. (1 puff for me was sufficant to induce anxiolysis, appetite and sleep.)

When they say marajuanna is worse for your lungs, that statistic may have done somthing like comparing equal volumes of tobbaco smoke to marajuanna smoke. For many medicinal marajuanna user, that may be a grosly unrealistic way to compare the two since they would not smoke the same volume as the average cigarette smoker.

There are other ways to consume it, such as vaporization, but I don't know too much about that.

I think...
That if you toked on your cigarette the way you toked on a joint (which i have been known to do - ahem)...
That if you smoked filterless cigarettes they way joints are typically filterless...
That if you smoked your cigarettes all the way down to little tiny roaches off paperclips the way joints are typically smoked all the way down to little tiny roaches off paperclips...

That there wouldn't be tooooooooo much of a difference.

Then there is the wonderful invention of the vapouriser...

Then there is the point...

And IMO this is the most significant point regarding the mj laws in the US...

The textile industry would be in some serious sh*t if it had to compete with hemp.

Hemp is wonderful wonderful stuff (and no you can't get high off smoking it)

We develop things with it over here... Skateboards, clothes, moisturisers etc etc...

here is a UK site:

here is a hemp powered car:

You can definitely vaporize it, which is much better for your lungs. I've done it, and it's much much better than smoking.
