Where did it go?
To me, it seems that Dr. Hsiung is too often granted less respect than we would demand for ourselves. I don't place him on a pedestal, but neither do I try to bury him under a mountain of incivility. Sometimes, it seems to me that there are episodes of a mob mentality targeting the doctor. He might not deserve praise for all of his actions, but neither do I for mine. Still, I would not demonstrate the patience that the doctor has if I had to be continually addressed with disrespectful tones.

I am unsure as to what you are wanting to include or not include by that. If you could post answrs to the following, then I could have the opportunity to respond accordingly.
A. What constitutes in your thinking disrespectfull tones?
B. Is there a list of mermbers that you could make that are in the set of members that have posted in what you could describe as a disrespectful tone, if you could describe such here?
C. If so, how could a member here obtain that list?

I don't understand why you could not have offered a response without my answering your questions first.

> B. Is there a list of mermbers that you could make that are in the set of members that have posted in what you could describe as a disrespectful tone, if you could describe such here?
I could make a list of posts that were made over these last few days that I consider disrespectful to Dr. Hsiung. However, I believe that doing such a thing is uncivil and provokative. I am not so interested in affixing labels to people, though. Uncivil posts can be made by very civil people. People are NOT their behaviors. However, their behaviors do have consequences.
> C. If so, how could a member here obtain that list?
There is none to obtain. Everyone here has value, including Dr. Hsiung. A good starting place for defining a respectful tone might be to consider speaking to others in a way that you would have others speak to you.
Here is a direct question to you that I would like to have answered since I took the time to respond to yours:
What constitutes in your thinking disrespectful tones?

For me to respond, I would need to know what you are wanting to mean by disrespectfull tones.
You see, to {respect} could mean to give a special high esteem to someone, and to disrespect is to {lack} respect. This could mean to me many things until you narrrowed your meaning to be {devaluation}.
Now that you have given me what you are wanting to mean by disrespectful, then I look at that in relation to your phrase,{disrespectful tone}
Now a tone could be a style of writing and that could then cause me to have a want for infomation as to how one could determine as to if a statement is in a style or not of being disrespectful or not according to what you are wanting to mean here.
If I was to be able to make that determination then I could examine posts to see if they do or do not fit that rationale to be considered disrespectful.
Now you have given me a reply that you are wanting to mean {devaluation}. A generally accepted meaning of devaluation is that something is made to be less. This now opens up a whole new perspective to me now that I have received your reply to as what you are wanting to mean by that and now I can focus on what you are wanting to mean rather than to speculate in any way.

I think that posting the list could have that potential here, but I believe that making the list, in and of itself, is not uncivil here unless it is posted.
I have lists of posts that I send to those requestiing such. I have been told that posting links here to some type of posts from here could be uncivil and I am unsure as to what URLs could or could not be posted here. Untill I am sure, I send them by email. There are also other data bases of different web sites that contain URLs of posts from here that may or may not be allowed to be posted here. I am not asking you to post URLs from here. I was looking for another way, if you had made or could make a list of posts of that nature in question here, to obtain those posts. If I was to know each of those posts , then I could have a better understanding of what you are wanting to mean here and respond accordingly..

I don't bother making lists of such things because doing so might serve to have me remain in the past instead of living in the moment.
I did ask you a question that you did not address. I feel it is a very important question, and it was the same question that you posed to me and which I answered. To be honest, your not answering any of the questions I ask you dissuades me from wanting to respond to your posts.

I am unsure as to what you are wanting to mean here. If you could post answers to the folllowing, then I could have the oportunity to respond accordingly.
A. Is there some time frame that is considerd reasonable by you for discussants to reply to another discussant's question?
B. If so, could you post here what the amount of time could be reasonable before one could assume that the other discussant was not responding to the question posed to them by the other discussant?
C. How many times (redacted by respondent)

~ ~ Respect is really important. I don't know how old "The Golden Rule" is or where it came from or anything, but to me it's a pretty good one:
*Do unto others as you would have them do unto you*
and also one can put other 'spins' on it:
*Speak to others as you would like people to speak to you*
*Treat others as you'd like to be treated*
I'm not sure if there are people who might have different tolerance levels as to what feels okay to them regarding that. Maybe if someone has a low self esteem & therefore is okay with being treated poorly, they might be okay with treating others poorly? I don't know.
But I DO think respect is very important.

I am unsure as to what you are wanting to mean here. If you could answer the following, then I could have the opportunity to respond accordingly.
A. In that you respect Scott's patience and restraint, could you post here what you think Scott is restraing from?
B. Could you post here what meaning of the word (patient} you are wanting to mean that Scott has patience that you see?
C. If you could not post such here, could you email me with your reply?
D. If you could not post here
the answers to my requests, could you post here the reason that you could not post such?
You see, the discussion in that thread has discussion between me and Scott, so that I think that your remarks are relevant to my mental health for they have the potential IMO in a manner that could involve me in some way that I would like to know. So if you could answer, then I could rule out or affirm what I think has the potential for some to think about me as a person here and respond to you accordingly.

A. What is the farce?
B. What are the plans that collaped?

our lives without Dr. bob---each and every one of us. It doesn't take deep thought and you don't have to analyze the crap out of it----it's very very simple. He's a Doctor--he's suppose to do research. He's also human with many of the same problems as ALL of us. He's the Rodney Dangerfield of psychiatry in his own house---the one he built. Thanks Bob--you're cool with me.
p.s. I apologize Scott for changing the thread title. Maybe that's one of my faults---like a young man lusting in his heart after strange women--I can't help it.

Dear Lou,
I'm mostly a 'feelings' person - often it's hard for me to sort of 'get my mind around' analytical things, so I'm not sure how useful my reply will be, but I hope it helps.
For me, patience is just patience. I can't put into words what I mean by it.
In this case, it had to do with Scott writing a post; having questions posed; answering them & posing a question; in response to that post, not having the question answered & having more questions posed......that type of thing. If it was me, the sort of 'little kid' part of me might be fidgetting impatiently & feeling frustrated.
:-)So, if I am impatient, I might tend to say something in a not calm manner. I might need to take some deep breaths to slow myself down. If I was feeling like that, it would take restraint to reply calmly.
I hope that answers your questions. I think it's the best I can do. Sometimes lately, when it comes to my cognitive abilities, the quote from the Winnie the Pooh books often comes to my mind.... 'being a bear of very little brain'.
