Is there anyway that there could be the current time on babble anywhere? At the top of the page or something?
Being GMT (well, mainly!) I find it just a struggle to get to grips with different time zones and can never really remember how different babble time is to UK time.. So, a little "Babble time" somewhere would be fab!!

I guess there is... But if you already have the time displayed, what about just setting that to Babble time? :-)
Mr. Wolf?

I use a site called time and date.com Got to http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
and click on "Personal World Clock".My young son's best friend moved to Australia, and my grown-up son will be heading to Iraq soon (ugh!), so I've got mine set up for my nearest big city (Phoenix -- Arizona is expecially difficult because the rest of the U.S. uses daylight savings time, and we don't!), plus Melbourne and Baghdad. The site has advertising, but it's not too intrusive.

Nikki, how about you just joing me in BabbleTime? It's a little weird, and hard to get used to, but the benefit is that you can read every single post that interests you on all the boards here in "just about three more minutes, honey..." Unlike time in the rest of the world, that moves in an orderly fashion, BabbleTime sometimes moves quite quickly, but at others slows down so that you can read entire threads in mere seconds! Even on dialup...
;-D xoxo *g*

But.. this might shock you, but I don't spend *all* my time at babble *LOL* the vast majority is at a US site that has their time displayed (but different time zone to you) or UK sites..
Plus, when at work I can't change the time without logging out, logging in as administrator and then logging back in as me.. and that would really upset my outlook reminders and PDA when it synchronises *L*

I do have worldclock in my favourites.. but I really don't want to have yet another window open, or have to open each time I check Babble..
And Racer - *lol* Ah, draw back there is the lack of ability to earn money *L* You have to be rich to be accepted in the US.. though, lottery programme has just started.. *lol*
Oh well.. Was only a thought

Its a kids game we play in the UK.. "Whats the time Mr Wolf"..
One person stands facing a wall or fence.. and all te other kids stand a set distance behind them. The group of kids then asks the single one "Whats the time Mr Wolf" and then the "Wolf" starts with One O'Clock, then Two O'Clock etc.. at each "hour" the group of kids take a step forward.. At some point the "Wolf" shout "DINNER TIME" and turns runs after all the other kids.. the one they catch is Mr Wolf next time!!
Well, it made sense as a kid!!

It would be good to know Babbletime.
My math is appalling.
And you guys are less one day plus eight hours or something like that.
And daylight savings times are all out of whack as well.
:-(
All I know... Is that if I post in the morning other people are here too.
And if I post in the afternoon I get the people who can't sleep.
And if I post in the evening its dead as dead can be.

Personally, I know quite well that the time difference between our dining room and my husband's ex-girlfriend back home or any of his other buddies is calculated just by changing the AM to PM or vice versa.
The only thing I can't ever manage is what day it is when we call there...
I think it's because of that equator thing. It confuses my mind when I try to think across it...

Actually it's the international date line.
I took off from Australia one morning and landed in Oahu many, many hours later, but it was 10PM the night before I left!

Couldn't you synchronize before changing the time? And automate the logging out and back in?
Or, do you happen to know a good Javascript clock? :-)

I believe Nikki is talking about the system time of the machine. This time is quite important - it's on all the time/date stamps of any files touched among other things.
Changing it isn't that simple. Where I work we're on a network that periodically resyncs the time with the outside world.
I guess I *could* change mine to be on GMT or something else and all would be ok (files time/date stamps also keep the time zone) but it would be strange for most things = right now I'd see it and pack up to go home.

For local time you'd need a watch? :-)

Oh yes. Phones are especially useful when you are on a train pulling away from the station heading downtown, and your husband, for some inexplicable reason, is still on the platform.
