roboxetine and desipramine

Posted by rjlockhart37 on December 14, 2018, at 16:23:21

does anyone know the difference between these two? i know their both norepinephrine reptakes, there good for attention and alertness, but i'm stumped on there diffrent effects. I know despiramine also does serotonin reptake. Roboxetine is more selective NE reuptake inhibitor. Anyone know there diffrent effects?

I have taken both of these meds.

Desipramine feels like what you would expect from a TCA - dirty, antihistamine, with an adrenal kick that can make your heart skip or butterflies in your stomach. I could not tolerate it long enough, even on a low dose, to give it a good try. It was too stimulating physically, crazy in the brain, and just didn't feel right. But it did give me a hint that I needed to go that direction and away from the serotonin direction.

I later found much better results from Milnacipran, which is clean, with 2 parts NE to one part 5ht. Super low dose worked pretty good.

Reboxetine was a nightmare. It was deep dark dungeon-like depression within hours of taking the first dose. I think if someone wanted to purposely make someone else super depressed, give them a heavy NE drug like reboxetine. That said, I understand clinical studies looked good and some people do well with it. Looking at the fine details of those studies, I don't trust their conclusions.

If you are interested in the norepinephrine angle then I would consider these: Milnacipran (Savella), Nortriptyline, Adderall, Modafinal, Ritalin. My personal fav on that list is Ritalin by a long shot. It helps more people with more symptoms than any other drug a doctor writes prescriptions for.

thanks for your response, wow i didnt know desipramine had those effects, but it is an oler anti-depressant, i was really considering robexetine, but norepinephrine levels would go up, honestly i just considered it because norephriphrine keeps you alert, and your more with everything, your more awake, but it's not like dopamine, just gives alertness

i'm on nuvigil right now, it does help somewhat...it does, but like i said with stimulants i don't like the time when they wear off, nuvigil is not that bad, but dexamphetamine was more irrtible and the mood dropped after it wore off. But it was an effective med, it kept me alert and motivated to stay on task to get things done. I would be in a alert mood, gettings things done, and then the drop off when it wears off, hated that period

but thanks for letting me know about desipramine, won't be considering that anymore. Roboxetine still may consider later on, taking it with prozac
