I often get caught in a pattern of over sleeping one night then not sleeping the next night.
It is very difficulty for me to break this, even when I restrict sleep on the rebound night, I just end up with the same insomnia the next.
Frustrating.

I have a similar problem. I think its because my days are unstructured. How is this affecting your job performance? Speaking of which...how is your job going?
Anyway, I don't have any suggestions for you. I was thinking about asking my shrink for neurontin or remeron so I could sedate myself on my under-sleeping nights and get things evened out, but I don't know if thats a good idea.
Good luck.

Same thing here. Ambien is a little bit helpful so at least I sleep a few hours but I continue to have the same issues. One of my pdocs once told me to stay awake for at least 48 hours to try and reduce the cycling....clearly I havent done that yet.

have similar issue.
i do have a fairly structured situation, but it seems like when anxiety is really high at night, even though i'm physically tired due to the physical anxiety and cant shut mind down i cant get to sleep, then i wait too long to take something to get me too sleep as i wouldn't be able to wake on time. and i Cant loose my job from being consistently late. im late too often as it is.so then i get about 3-4 hours sleep.
then in a few days i crash and have to sleep late, or go to bed at 9. etc.i wish seconals were

The new job is going ok (it could be a lot worse). The classes are decent. It is a lot of work. I just cycle from about 2-4 hours to about 12 hours the next night. The days when I get 12 hours, I feel great. On the days I don't get much sleep, I am a mess.

Link what works for you for sleep. Strange the changing hours. What would happen if you set an alarm so you wouldn't sleep 12 hours? Then maybe you would sleep better or longer the next night? Phillipa
