Hi all,
after a few months on Nardil I started waking up an increasing number of times to pee. This has recently become a problem since on bad nights I will go and pee 6 or 7 times. Not only is this a PITA but on top of that, my snoring has increased in volume and frequency which not only wakes my missus but she then wakes me to stop my snoring! On top on top of that throw in daytime somnolence from the Nardil where I fall asleep at my desk even when I've slept well and you have a recipe called "frikkin' knackered all the time".
Anyone else experienced this night time peeing? not just on Nardil - in any situation? Any suggestions? I am currently avoiding all liquids 2 hours before going to bed, which helps a bit (still awoke 5 times last night). I went to the GP yesterday to eliminate other causes and he found nothing untoward.
Suggestions welcome!
Pete

i go about the same as you . always have as i remember.but that dont mean to much , some people will stay in bed bursting for a slash ,why i dont no the wife is stay in bed sooner type.still i drink about 2 pints of water between 7 an 12pm to try to stop food craveing.so long as your not in pain or passing blood, is cool. as for the snoreing a good smack with a house brick usually stops all that.

Well since you saw your GP assuming not prostrate problems as that is a frequent cause depending on age. Phillipa

> PeteSnoring and exhaustion are often symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea where your airway closes during sleep. People with this often report Nocturia too. If it is OSA I don't know whether Nardil could have made this worse or not. If the Nardil caused weight gain that certainly could make OSA worse or the timing could be a coincidence. Tell your GP about the loud snoring, falling asleep at your desk and the nocturia all at the same time - that should prompt him to consider sleep apnea.

Prescription desmopressin will stop nocturia. If you can't convince your doc, it's available from antiaging sites. It raises vasopressin levels. High vasopressin is associated with depression, but in my experience this wasn't a problem. FYI - polyuria can be a physical symptom of depression, like fatigue can.

So you reckon that avoiding food cravings is worth getting up 6 times a night? Those must be some serious cravings.
It's not cool really since if I don't get up to go, I will go in situ i.e. piss the bed. Not good.
I'm not letting the wife near any house bricks then since she probably would use it!

Yeah he didn't think there was anything physically wrong, that it was just a side effect of the Nardil. I was mostly concerned about sleep apnea but he reckoned that was very unlikely too.

> janeThanks for the suggestion Jane. He discounted OSA since I'm not overweight and he said that that is almost always the case with OSA. He also discounted central sleep apnea on the basis that it is very, very rare. Not the most scientific of rationale but I'm willing to go with it.
He did give me a referral to an ENT specialist if I want to have it looked at further.
I'm just beginning to think that there's nothing seriously wrong, it's just that Nardil puts me into a deeper/different sleep where I snore more loudly and frequently.

Wow I hadn't heard of this med, thanks. There're a few things that might not make it a good idea unfortunately. First off I take Lamictal, which seems contraindicated, secondly I play soccer late at night which will increase my thirst at bedtime and lastly I had a pyloplasty done some years ago, which, whilst successful, may preclude vasopressin use?
If this gets any worse then I will see if the doc will prescribe.
Thanks!

why would you want to stop night time pissing, if your bladder is full better out than in,its a nature clean out.
