In my noodling search for info about gaba I came across an interesting article posted on Jan 26, 2006 by James K.

I take generic klonopin--and I always wonder about the meds I take. I found this an interesting take.
for what it's worth (and I hope I'm not breaking protocol by reposting this).

This guys ideas are primarily theory. Of course, taking anything that calms the CNS will allow it down time to recharge, but you may still have withdrawl to deal with and the rebound neuronal excitation that comes with it.

I used to e-mail with James K wonder what happened to him. Think he also posted about his alchohol consumption. That would also be in achieves. Phillipa

I took Klonopin 2mg for a while, at night. Before i read the article, i rerember reading from here, and other sources it has nueroprotective properties. Yet that has been long ago....2003,04.
The only thing with klonopin it made me depressed a bit. Yet it would go away after it wore off.

Floating Bridge, thanks for the article.
Klonopin, i think is the only benzo that has "good" nueroeffect's for the brain. For some reason, i wrote about Geodon (some aspect's, i feel it healing life back) because maybe it's causing stillness in some sections, before without medication, moods where off the chart's. Zyprexa is good for mood's, only disclaimer is weight gain, but people can jog it off.
And Klonopin is good for sleep in it's own way. Ativan, the only thing I know is it stablizes some mood effect's to a normal. But that's not the point of the medication. Xanax has alway's worked good for me. I take Xanax XR 1mg, yet during the day...I don't know if it lasts 24 hour's or 12 hour's because the effect's are not direct.
Thanks,

Link,
Well yes, you're right. And so the thread title may not be well-chosen, either. However, they did work with a distinct population, and usage was not for depression, per say. So I think it has nueroprotective properties (if I may use the word) by protecting any further damage from stress. They speak of patients eventually recovering from hyper-arousal--I'm not sure when that would apply to me (ha!). However, I was heartened to read that it 'could' put one into a healing zone. And for me (and the study) it didn't seem tolerance was an issue. Of interest, too was the dosing strategy they came up with.
Always looking how to prevent further damage and then, hopefully, maybe reverse some.

Hi rj,
Nice to see your post--I did read your article and enjoyed it--thanks for the information sharing. I have a question for you--are you liking the xanax xr? I was going to try it (have the script), yet after reading the above article, am rethinking staying on klonopin.
Hope you are well-you sound good!

It just releases diffrently [the XR]. Maybe similiar the way spansules release....at certain time period's. 2mg is .25mg? every 3 hours.
Klonopin is better for mania, and calming. That's just what i have say about it. It causes some depression (really, in higher doses). Xanax is diffrent in it's effect's, you just feel alot of more calm. Kinda make metaphores for things "air" "water", xanax is like water over nervousness.
Hope it works well
