Psychosis isn't really a "condition" as in a diagnosis as there has to be some sort of addition, like primary psychosis, due to (etc)... many substances ingested can cause a psychosis but people come out of them.

Unfortunately I don't see a drug checker for EMEA area medications -- the sulpirides are not available in the states. There are various for the US. Its unfortunate there aren't any that I'm aware of because they're based on the US pharmacopoeia databases, unless you know of one.

Ask your doctors.

I know -- what I'm saying is that sulpride is not approved by the US FDA so it can't be checked by American drug checkers which are mostly what are around.

Anyhow, I would propose this question to your doctors there, they have more experience with sulpiride than someone in the US.

In medical trials -- and one can or not be skeptical, given the population, it is an Alzheimer's prolonging medication, Namenda (memantine) can cause confusion in some studies up to 6%.

Now, whether you say that's psychosis, I'm not really clear. I think its fairly neutral but I don't want to be ad hominem, I have to say that since you have a schizophreniform disorder or something causing a continual psychosis if not treated, there may be a higher risk. This I cannot say. You would have to start at 5mg and see if it does anything wrong -- and remember, you have other side effects going on.

I'm curious why you want to add memantine to an already chemical soup of things.

I'm also surprised at the management and care of you -- I really don't know, I'm not on the scene at the hospital, but it just seems to me, and this is merely an opinion, that either you feel there are side effects occurring and decide not to have a trial or they're going way rapidly through the list (which is in the dozens if you count typical) of antipsychotics.

I really wish you the best -- I hesitate to say this, but when you have a psychosis sometimes its really hard to evaluate yourself until it is put under management, and maybe (not accusatory) you don't like the side effects or the doctors are observing things and too rapidly stopping, and you don't get the full benefit of being able to process thoughts more clearly.

This has nothing to do with your intelligence, its just what is gripping you and we all feel for you.

-- best wishes

I'm not sure I understand why to take memantine. Based on its method of action, it woudl likely worsen psychosis before improving. There are some reports of it causing psychosis for people treated with it. I'm all for trying wacky new med combos, but this seems like a last resort kind of idea.
