I notice that when I take Remeron as a sleep aid, I sleep better the next night, and the night after that.
The insomnia ususally returns after this.
Anyone have similar effects ?

What dose of Remeron are you taking? According to my psych med bible (Essential Psychopharmacology by Stephen Stahl): "breaking a 15mg tablet in half and administering 7.5mg may actually increase sedation". And 7.5mg does work for me. I'm wondering if perhaps you're taking a higher dose and your blood levels drop by the 2nd or 3rd night? Remeron's half-life is 20-40 hours.

I ususally take 7.5 as a sleep aid. I think I may metabolize it on the long end of the half life.

To both of you taking 7.5 mg of Remeron, does it make you hungry at that dosage and does it have antidepressant effect or only help with sleep?

> LinkadgeYou could be keeping it at a low dose remaining curve as noted with its half life, although at 7.5mg the amount left would be pretty low.
Insomnia can occur after several days also if you switch between sleep agents, e.g. Ambien to Lunesta to Ambien CR and back to Lunesta or whatever. It creates an abrupt change. The several days wait with the Remeron may eventually create an abrupt change by itself. Just posturing.

At 7.5mg I get neither the munchies nor any discernible anti-depressant effect.Hugo

It helps my anxiety more than my mood, but I don't really get munchies at any dose.
