You could be keeping it at a low dose remaining curve as noted with its half life, although at 7.5mg the amount left would be pretty low.
Insomnia can occur after several days also if you switch between sleep agents, e.g. Ambien to Lunesta to Ambien CR and back to Lunesta or whatever. It creates an abrupt change. The several days wait with the Remeron may eventually create an abrupt change by itself. Just posturing.
