abnormal dopamine flow cause mental instablity?

Posted by rjlockhart98 on August 29, 2005, at 21:29:08

Lately i have been having a hard time keeping it with my self. Well my mind, thoughts. I feel unstable, stimulants seem to stablize somewhat, but i still dont know.

Thoughts feel off balance, like sea sick. I dont know how to describe it. Smoking has not helped, i am going to quit becuase i feel even worse after.
There is defintly some dopamine flow, but it's maybe off balance. I take Zyprexa, but may need to increase.

I feel fear, mainly becuase the circumstances that are present in life, my mom is unstable, stress to succeed, fear of failure, collage. And desicions what i am going to do with my life, should i become what i want? then not want.
Stimulants do seem to stablize temporarly this feeling of breakdown.

Right now i feel unstable even talking about it.
This is why i have always wanted to get a MRI or something.

I dont really know what else to say.

But thanks if you respond.

Matt

The folowing is written with good intentions -- no malice intended.

Due to what you stated and just as importantly --- the way you said it -- I urge you to get a brain scan. Many years ago I had 2 BEAM scans and 2 SPECHT scans. They were all abnormal. One of the BEAM scans showed improvement (relative to the first scan) after I was put on Tegretol and Parnate. The neuro. who "read" the scan specifically recommended Tegretol because of the type of abnormality found with the scan.
