hello there, chemist here...from what i can tell, it falls into the category of snake-oils, and is a non-regulated supplement/herbal remedy that, from the info i have found, offers nothing. but i do stand to be corrected...what is it that you are trying to alleviate? all the best, chemist

Hello,
Thanks for your reply. When you say that it offers nothing, do you mean that because of its ingredients, you don't think it would have anything in it that would be effective? And, to answer your question, the things I would be trying to alleviate would be symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, anxiety, depression, having an extrememly hard time waking up before my body is ready (I've had this for years and suspect it might be Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome). I also think that I don't get a good night's sleep usually and was already looking into Melatonin. I've also gained an extreme amount of weight being on SSRIs. This product claims to help with all of those things because it boosts both serotonin and melatonin levels. Any thoughts?

hi there, i was commenting on it being a mix of melatonin and serotonin, and if you have tried SSRIs with little success, then taking this product might hurt more than hinder. also, i am *personally* wary of non-regulated supplements, but that is my personal bias. perhaps straight-up melatonin would be more to your liking? the combo you mention might not have the desired effects and recall that the serotonon/melatonin neurotransmitter levels are coupled, so be wary....i defer to others with more experience with supplements such as these, especially the serotonin+melatonin ones....apologies for the confusion, and all the best, chemist

Hi again,
Thanks for the clarification. I wanted to add something that I guess I could have clarified in my last posting also. I have tried SSRIs and they have been very helpful, (even a little bit with the waking up in the morning), unfortunately because of the weight gain, I had to stop taking them. I was on Prozac first and in four months, went from being a thin and healthy person, to gaining over 80 pounds and suddenly having problems with my feet and hip when walking or standing, and with my cholesterol going up a great deal. Once I was completely off of it for a year, I lost a great deal of the weight. Later, I tried Lexapro because it was supposed to not cause weight gain, or only a little but unfortunately I've gained back most of the weight I worked so hard to lose (with no decrease in physical activity and no increase in calorie consumption). So, I'm weaning off of Lexapro. That's why I thought Seroctin might work as an alternative.

Sorry if it's confusing, but there are a number of boards here, and Psycho-Babble Alternative is for discussion about alternative treatments. Here's a link:
