Lithium as successful augmentative agent.

Posted by ace on March 16, 2003, at 22:24:28

Anybody used it in OCD, Depression, or any other axiety d/o as an adjunctive agent. Reports on it used with other AD's for OCD a very promising.

What dose were you on.

My doc thinks 500-750mg should suffice.

Thanks.
Ace.

Hi Ace- My doc just gave me 300mg Lithium to go along with my Prozac 40mg. I do have a lesser form of OCD. Sound stupid but I freak out if my food touches each other on the plate and I insist on bleaching things all the time. Even my friends kitchens. Other than that, that is the only OCD things i do. I'll let you know if the lithium turns out. I have been on it about 4 days with no side effects. The Prozac used to help with the OCD but it came back. Good luck.

Jill

I think it takes a couple of weeks to a month to start working. I'm not exactly sure.

Thanks Jill. Please let me know how it goes. (nm) » zeliva

I think it takes around 1 to 2 weeks. I have heard of wonderful responses within 48 hours.
The longer you use it the better it works and, strangly, the longer the half-life becomes.

It has no withdrawal syndrome AT ALL. It is safe if monitored well. I have seen some very good responses to it as an adjunctive treatment.
It truly is a good drug.

Ace.

My pdoc had me run blood tests last week. I haven't had any side effects yet. The first day I took it, I felt a little light headed but it went away.
