I heard something on the news the other night about cooperative groups forming to purchase prescription medications at a discount. It said that the pharmacy industry preferred it to dealing with HMOs, and that it reduced costs for consumers significantly.
So, does anyone know how to get in touch with such a group? I'll have to start posting here about Effexor XR withdrawal soon if I don't figure out a way to reduce my costs!
Thanks!

Sounds promising, Racer. Let us know what you find out.
I think coops for health insurance is an alternative that is worth considering, too, rather than getting it through your employer, especially when the employer doesn't really pay the bulk of the premium anyway.

Racer:
Ironically, an article about these companies and services just appeared in our local paper from the Associated Press and likened these organizations to Sams Club or Costco. Evidently they may even include: "savings on prescription drugs, doctor visits, dental and other medical services. The buying clubs, set up by established companies such as Readers Digest and Internet newcomers, advertise savings of 10 percent to 70 percent off their medical bills at participating providers."
