Cold?

Do I seem like a cold person?

I get this impression from time to time that people don't warm up to me for some reason on these boards. Many of my posts posing questions go unanswered. I don't know. I am really not a cold and clinical person. I guess that's how I must come across in cyberspace.

You don't come across like that to me.. not at all.

I have no idea why people don't respond to you.. I hadn't noticed it, but I notice so little really! Maybe, people think you're so knowledgable that they don't have anything they can say to you that you wouldn't already know..

I dunno.. but I am responding!!!

You are one of the kindest and most supportive people on these boards. Is this happening on the med board?
take care, judy

Hm... You don't strike me as cold, but you do strike me -- almost always -- as having a self-sufficiency and strength, a competance that allows you to give good information and good advice, without necessarily giving a lot of obvious emotional warmth. Now, keep in mind that I suffer a Serious Mental Illness, so anything I say must be taken with a number of large grains of salt. To me, that solid information that you offer is not only worth more than the easier emotional support, but it is a sign of emotional openness. I know that when I give reasoned responses, with hard information that can be verified, it comes from an emotional warmth within me. So, to me, you've always come across as very caring and very generous.

On the other hand, I can see how that could be mistaken for coldness. I think you -- like me -- are an acquired taste, but valued more highly by those who have acquired it. (At least, I hope I'm valued more highly for being a little less easy to appreciate...)

My guess, as far as the non-responses go, is that you always have that air of confidence to your posts, and always seem to have the answers for everyone else, people forget that you need help with things, too. I suspect that no one knows the answers you need, so no one bothers to chime in with plain old, "Gee, Scott, I don't have the answer, but I'm sorry you're suffering."

For what it's worth, I think you're a boon to Babblekind.

SLS,
You've never struck me that way. You've always seemed accessible, helpful, responsive, and warm.

I always get warm fuzzies seeing "SLS" on the board. Always have.
I think you're very intelligent and carry that curiosity to others as well as lift them up a bit with your knowledge and caring.
You wouldn't ask that question if you weren't good people, Scott.
Or, of course, highly paranoid! : )
But I vote for the first.
