Since I've stopped all medications, and cancelled a bunch of appointments, I'm too frightened to go back to see Dr EyeCandy. Mind you, I *want* to see him, and I even want to be medicated -- well, OK, I only want to be medicated if it helps me, but I still *know* that medications have helped in the past. I really don't want to be medicated, but I also want to be functional again, and medications have made that possible in the past.
So, I wrote down all the things I was afraid of, to take in to my therapist to start working on them. I've listed the fears, along with some explanations of them.
Here's the problem: I'm afraid that she'll see it as me being controlling, and manipulative, and all those other things like trying to force issues, etc. Any words of wisdom from the Peanut Gallery?

Maybe reframing the control issues as a response to your fears?
That is why I think you are right on in trying to name the fears first.
Since medication is still such a game of darts, (Andrew Solomon, "Noonday Demon"), maybe you can ask your therapist to help you:
*list and prioritize the symptoms you have that you would like medication to address.
*Then list the side effects that you are afraid of and prioritize these (ie, ones you can and cannot tolerate and to what degree).
*And then, ask your therapist for help in how to be more effective in talking with the pdoc about your needs and concerns.
*And then, how to cope if you don't feel the doctor is "getting" what you are saying.
