Effexor has a short half life and should NOT be taken every other day. If side effects are a problem, it's possible the dosage is wrong. In that case, your sister could try taking 37.5mg every day. But 75mg every other day is not a good idea IMHO.
Just wondering, is it Effexor or Effexor XR? Effexor comes in 75mg tablets that are scored and quite easy to break in half. Effexor XR comes in 75mg capsules that are filled with beads of medication. It's more difficult, but you can empty out half the beads and save half for the next day. Just don't chew or crush the beads.
