4 months off Effexor and still having withdrawals

Posted by Arteest on July 15, 2008, at 3:56:36

I'm a 25 yr old female. I started taking Effexor XR around June 2007 for anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. I started on 37.5mg/day and slowly increased to 150mg/day.

I tried tapering off before(as suggested by my doctor) but experienced too much depression. About two months later I tried again and experienced the worse side effects: head/hand zapping, dehydration, dizziness, water retention, insomnia, fatigue, irritability, nausea, headaches, tingling on one side of my body, disconnected feeling. I couldn't take it so I just suffered through and quit cold turkey. I took Sam-E's for about a week and drank a lot of water which helped a lot for initial SE. Well, it's been 4 months and I am still experiencing tingling, water retention, very bad panic attacks everyday as opposed to only once a month before meds, anxiety, hypochondria due to the weird feelings all over, joint and muscle pain, vertigo, headaches, dizziness, ringing in my ears, social anxiety, memory loss. I am going crazy. Has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone give me advice?
