No, I would say the opposite is true. Xanax is about as addictive as the benzo's come. IMO, Valium is less addictive, and easier to discontinue. The Ashton strategy really is the best way out there to stop benzo's without suffering bad withdrawal effects. You will still feel some discomfort, but it will be less than trying to just taper the Xanax. It really does work well if you can convince your doc to let you try it. There is a good rationale behind it, so I don't see why a doc would disagree. Hope this helps!
