For me it was zypexa, not geodon. They are in the same family.
The trick for me was to:
Reduce dose in tiny eensy weensy steps. Custom cutting of tabs or splitting up contents of capsules. Small changes is the key. At each new lower dose stay there at least 3 days. I found seesawing helpful to. That is, go down to a newer low dose one day, back up to the dose you came from the next day, back down again, back up again, back down again, stabilize a couple days, then down another step to begin a new seesaw. Keep seesawing all the way to zero.Maybe go to the alternative board to ask suggestions to treat various side effects along the way. Certain herbs and supplements in low doses on an as needed basis can be very helpful to keep your sites set on your goals. They can give you relief for the moment and buy you some time and prevent you from having to go back up to a former higher dose.
All the antipsychotics are very powerful drugs. As I said, the key is to reduce dose in TINY steps. Sometimes so tiny you can hardly tell. I used to cut a tab of zyprexa in half, and then carefully just whittle of the tiniest little corner of one half, and then take what was left as the dose. Took awhile. Months actually. I'm sure the difficulties I had along the way were much milder than the wreckless fast weaning process practiced by physicians who have never felt these drugs themselves.
